Beautification Program
Sidewalk Program: The City's Sidewalk Program 2012 is available to residential owner-occupied and income properties. There are no requirements for household income eligibility. Sidewalk funds are available for one half of the cost of sidewalk replacement up to a maximum City participation of $700. Sidewalks must be located in the City’s right-of-way. This program does not include replacement of curbs. Participants must select a contractor listed on the City’s qualified contractors list. All cost estimates will be examined to make sure they are reasonable. The City must have on file an approved application before the work begins to be eligible for reimbursement. The program continues until October 1 or until all program funds are committed. Funds are usually committed quickly, so interested persons are encouraged to submit an application promptly if they want to be included in the program.
See Details and Application for 2012 Sidewalk Program.
Tree Planting Program: The City was recently awarded a grant from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) that will provide a portion of the funding for the City’s 2012 Tree Planting Program. The City's Tree Planting Program is open to all residential and commercial property owners in the City, with some restrictions imposed by the grant funding source. It is the City’s hope to provide a tree to all property owners that desire one. However, the City must provide trees in underserved areas, as determined by the DEC grant, on a priority basis.
The City, in conjunction with the DEC, have chosen six species of street trees for planting under the Program. The remaining trees can be planted on a citywide basis. If there are more applicants that there are trees for the 2012 Tree Planting program, a lottery will be held. If you are interested in being considered for a tree, applications must be submitted by Noon on Friday, April 13, 2012.
