Please join speaker Linda Ruthig to hear about this heartbreaking story of courage and endurance in the face of abysmal circumstances. David Brainard was a young man who grew up in Freetown and attended Cortland Normal School. He was chosen to join the ill fated Greely Expedition in 1881. They planned to spend 3 years collecting scientific data. Supply ships never arrived and many of the men died. Bring your own lunch if you wish, and we will provide dessert and beverages.
