Community Development
City Comprehensive Plan Moves Toward Adoption
The City received $54,000 in NYS Quality Communities funds to develop a Comprehensive Plan for the community. Comprehensive Plans are defined by State law and form the basis for changes to the City’s zoning and land use regulations. A group of community members were selected by the Mayor to be a part of a Steering Committee to guide the plan. Significant public input was gathered via a mail survey, public meetings, focus groups, and Steering Committee meetings. Goals and implementation measures were formulated. Comments on the draft Comprehensive Plan will be accepted at a Public Hearing scheduled for March 28, 2011 at 5:15PM in the Common Council Chambers. Copies of the plan are available at the City Clerk’s Office and at the Cortland Free Library. Download a digital copy of the plan now.
