The Lebanese of Cortland County, And How They Got Here

February 12 at 3:00 pm at the East End Community Center, 46 Elm Street in Cortland. Harry Calale will share his recollections and conversations with his parents, relatives and other Lebanese immigrants. Calale notes that he feels “immense” admiration for the Lebanese immigrants and other immigrants who came to this country to escape poor conditions, lack of opportunity, or domination by others. Their integration into American Society despite language and poverty barriers was a challenge, but very successful. It is a story that is worth repeating and remembering. There is limited seating for this event, so please register in advance by calling the Cortland Youth Bureau at (607) 753-3021 to confirm your attendance. The event is free and open to the public.
