Congratulations to City Police Officer Dan Johnson
Cortland Elks "Lawman of the Year"

City Police Officer Dan Johnson was greeted with a standing ovation when he accepted the Lawman of the Year Award at the Cortland Elks Club on February 9, 2004. Johnson joined the Cortland Police Department in June 1998. He is a graduate of Tompkins Cortland Community College.

In the first five years of his career, Johnson led his department in arrests and earned a reputation as an expert marksman, scoring at least a 98 percent proficiency at the target range each year and hitting a perfect score for two years.

Also nominated for the award were Sgt. Todd Caufield of the Sheriff's Department and Trooper Justin Walz of the New York State Police. They were also recognized at the ceremony on Monday.
