Skatepark T-Shirt Contest Winner Announced

The Cortland Youth Bureau has announced this year's winner of the Cortland Skate Park T shirt design contest. With over 50 entries, the contest was especially difficult to judge, according to a Skate Park Committee spokesperson. The Skate Park Committee which is comprised of local skaters and bikers, conducts the competition each year to come up with a unique design for the official skate park shirt.

This year's winner is Richie Marr IV, an eleventh grader at Marathon High School. Richie is an art student who has completed several courses at Marathon with art teacher, Ms Crystal Manuel, including studio art and a computer graphics class. Richie's entry for the t-shirt contest especially impressed the judges because it was drawn free hand. The design is now at Graph Tex and will adorn the 2005 shirt. Anyone who buys a season's pass to the park receives a free shirt with their pass. The shirts will be available at the Youth Bureau for purchase, either as part of the season pass package, or as a separate item, beginning Friday, April 8.

For his winning entry, Richie receives a season's pass to the park, a $50 gift certificate to a Downtown Cortland Store of his choice and, of course, a skate park t-shirt!
