Entrants Sought for March 1st Chill-A-Bration's Chili Cook-off

Local restaurants, caterers, not-for-profits, and community members are invited to register for the 2008 Chill-a-Bration Chili Cook-off, scheduled for Saturday, March 1, at Courthouse Park in Historic Downtown Cortland. The cook-off is being presented as part of a broad schedule of the day¹s events including a ski terrain park, snow sculpting, snowboard demonstrations, and a host of other wintertime activities.

"We felt that a chili cook-off would be a perfect complement to the fun things that are being planned for Chill-a-Bration," said Cortland County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Garry VanGorder. "The Cortland Downtown Partnership, Leadership Cortland, and many others are working hard to put together a great event for the community and we¹re happy to be a part of it."

Participants will offer their favorite Chili recipes to a crowd that can taste them while taking in the other events going on nearby. Tickets for the tasting will be available at the front gate, and legal beverages will be available in partnership with the Cortland County Tavern and Restaurant Association. A select panel of local residents will judge the chili, and awards will be presented in several categories including best traditional, best non-traditional, and best overall. A "People¹s Choice" award will also be presented. The tasting will run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Chamber of Commerce is presenting the cook-off in partnership with CP Cash & Carry, First Niagara Bank, Cortland Press/Carbon Copies, and Grand Rental Station.
