As Mayor of the City of Cortland, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our community. I invite you to experience the many unique attractions we have to offer as we continue to grow Cortland into an inviting place for residents and visitors.
In recent years, Cortland has become known as a premiere Central New York music and performing arts center. Our downtown area is bustling with diverse restaurants and pubs, offering a variety of cuisine, and our live music scene is second to none. A host of local and regional musicians perform weekly at various venues around town, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere. Cortland Repertory Theatre offers live theater, stand-up comedy and concerts in their downtown location, and there are more exciting happenings on the horizon as the Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant continues to transform our downtown area.
In addition, historic landmarks and fun events that happen throughout the year truly make Cortland an interesting place to visit. From our twice-weekly fresh-air Farmers’ Market during the summer and fall months, to our unique historical resources, the 1890 House and Suggett House Museums, to our annual celebrations and festivals including Pumpkinfest, The Brockway Truck Show, PorchFest, and First Light, we have plenty to enjoy.
Cortland residents have access to first-rate schools, a busy and well-stocked public library, outstanding art exhibits, and a city park system and youth service program that offer year-round activities for all ages. We have welcoming and inclusive churches of several denominations, as well as service clubs and civic organizations that contribute much time and talent to our community. The City of Cortland has a lot to be proud of as we work to build our future, while embracing our rich history.
Welcome to Cortland. We look forward to having you!
